Why you need it

If you've been using your pump for a few months, it's a good idea to check your tubes are clean and dry.

You need to replace them if they get dirty, discoloured, or if the ends stretch out and don't fit well on the pump anymore (which affects your suction).

How it works

These tubes connect your pump motor to your breastshield/flanges, and pull air back and forth to make the pump suck! They shouldn't get wet, and are protected from your milk by your backflow protectors.

How to clean

The tubes (and the pump itself) are two parts you should clean like everything else.

If you do try to wash these tubes, you may introduce a risk of mould or other bugs growing in the tubing as they can't be properly dried out. If you notice any discolouration, dirt or loss of suction, best to replace them.
